Summer Camps at Sugar Sand Park Community Center

***Sugar Sand Park Community Center is open Monday-Friday from 9am-8pm, Saturday 8am-5pm, & Sunday from 10am-5pm for walk-in permit sales and customer service questions.

The Field House, walking paths,  athletic fields, & outdoor basketball courts at Sugar Sand Park are open for public use and are to be used at your own risk. The Carousel is open on weekends (Saturdays & Sundays) from 10am-5pm, and rider capacity will be limited. The pavilions are open for reservations, however all reservations must be done in person at Sugar Sand Park community center.

The Science Playground will be closed for maintenance on the following days:

  • Wed-Fri, June 16-18 CLOSED
  • Sat-Sun, June 19-20 OPEN (Splash Pad unavailable)
  • Mon-Fri, June 21-25 CLOSED
  • Sat, June 26, Playground and Splash Pad REOPEN.

Please note, the grassy area between the Community Center and the Field House (in front of pavilion 2 and 3 and next to the basketball courts) is closed for programming on Saturdays from 8am-1:30pm and Sundays from 8:30am-12:30pm.

Be advised that the Children's Science Explorium, and Willow Theatre are currently closed.

In a continued effort to protect employees and the public, facial coverings or masks are encouraged while conducting business in City of Boca Raton facilities. Individuals are encouraged to practice safety and follow CDC guidelines.***

FUN & FITNESS HALF DAY CAMP                     Registration open!

Ages 5-11

This outdoor summer camp is packed with fun! Activities may include- gymnastics, theater games, sport games (soccer, basketball, t-ball), music routines with props, arts & crafts, nature hikes, team-building obstacle courses, and Splash Pad daily. This camp will meet outdoors at the Family Pavilion daily. Materials Fee $10 (camp t-shirt) payable to the instructor on the first day of camp. Please bring a lunch, 2 snacks, and a beverage, and wear sneakers for safety.

This indoor/outdoor summer camp will be a week of non-stop fun with sports games, hip hop dance, gymnastics, crafts, cheerleading, water play, themed dress up days, outside activities and much more. Children will exercise, improve coordination and skill technique, and participate in strength and team building with games. Materials Fee $10 (camp t-shirt) payable to the instructor on the first day of camp. Please bring a lunch, snacks, and a beverage, and wear sneakers for safety.

DISCOVER MAGIC                  Registration open!

Ages 7-12

AMAZE family and friends this summer with fun magic tricks you’ll learn while focusing on the Eight Traits of a True Magician: Respectful, Prepared, Enthusiastic, Confident, Humble, Creative, Authentic, and Giving. Enroll in the Discover Magic Purple Wand or Green Wand Course, or both! Each contains completely different lessons and tricks. No prior experience needed for either course. 

Discover Magic uses extraordinary FUN to make great kids appear! Promotes critical thinking, empathy, communication skills, public speaking skills, and creativity. Registration ends at 3pm on the Friday prior to the first day of the program.

A Materials fee of $60 (Discover Magic Kit) is paid to the instructor after registering (instructor will contact you with details). The fee includes printed materials for the lessons, props, a carrying case, access to the online Video Vault, and an exclusive graduation certificate. We will contact you to schedule a pick-up of the Magic Kit when it becomes available prior to the start of class.

In this online class, kids will create fun and unique DIY craft projects, taught step by step. Each class will feature a different theme and will include supplies. After you register for a morning OR afternoon session, call 561-347-3900 to schedule your supply bag curbside pick-up.

Explorium Summer Break Blast

Grades 1-5

Summer Break Blast offers your child an exciting and fun opportunity to explore the world around us. Campers entering 1st through 5th grade will experience a different science theme consisting of at least three activities each day. We will engage in tons of exciting experiments that will be sure to entice the curious mind of your budding scientist.

All camps are hands-on and emphasize active learning and fun. Science Camp is comprised of six one-week sessions, running from June 21 to July 30. All materials will be provided with registration, including a camp t-shirt.

To accommodate for Covid-19 restrictions, we will be using the virtual platform GoTo Meetings to provide you with hands-on activities and immersive learning experiences, all from the comfort of your own home! Please make sure to use a desktop computer or laptop.

MIND GAMES                             Registration Open!

Ages 6-12

An enrichment program that helps students improve academic achievement through S.T.E.M. based game play. Students will be introduced to various educational games that focus on several areas such as: critical thinking, focus and attention, memory, sportsmanship, and life skills. After registering, the instructor will contact you regarding access to the games for the week.

Ages 5-11

Participants of this virtual program will *adopt* a plush animal to perform mock exams, surgeries, and other procedures. Class sill culminate in a mock Vet School graduation. Promotes critical thinking, communication, creativity, and problem-solving. After registering, the instructor will contact you regarding the pickup of your Future Veterinarians Kit and payment of the $25 Materials Fee (stethoscope, gloves, Future Vet t-shirts, adopted plush pet) for the kid. Registration ends at 3pm on June 25.

ENGINEERING GADGETS            Registration Open!

Does your child like to explore and take apart gadgets? In a collaborative, team-oriented environment, participants will learn about different fields of engineering and be encouraged to use the Engineering Design Process to construct and program their unique machines. They will be able to think outside the box to customize and code their masterpieces! Participants will explore STEM topics, make friends who share their passion, and create gadgets from day one. Promotes: information & media literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving, and interpersonal and collaborative skills. Registration ends at 12pm on June 20th.

This camp focuses on getting young learners more interested in becoming creators and innovators. Through a fun and exciting curriculum, participants will work in a team-oriented atmosphere, where they are challenged with different tasks each day. Along with teaching your child the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and leadership, your little one will build and program robots as well as take part in other STEM challenges. By the end of the week, your child will learn basic coding principles and will be a role model for other young kids they meet. Promotes: information & media literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving, and interpersonal and collaborative skills. Registration ends at 5pm July 31st.
